Whether you want to use your wooden bowls as a decorative centerpiece for the table or to serve your food, you want them to last for a while. Here are a few tips on how to care for your wood bowls and make them last.
- Not dishwasher safe: The most important thing to remember when caring for your wood bowls is that they are not, in fact, dishwasher safe. To properly care for them and make them last longer, we do not recommend putting them through the dishwasher or letting them soak because it can cause the wood to swell or shrink.
- Soap and hot water: The best way to clean your wood bowls is to scrub them down with hot, soapy water. You’ll also want to dry them thoroughly after washing your bowls to avoid any potential water damage. This isn’t to say that you can’t serve any wet foods in them, though. When wooden bowls are properly treated, you can even serve delicious soups and casseroles in them without a problem.
- Treat them with oil: In a similar way that you would season a cast iron pan to make it last, you can help your wood bowls last by treating them regularly with some oil. To keep them safe for serving food, we recommend using some food-grade mineral oil or beeswax to treat your bowls.
As long as you follow the above tips for caring for your wood bowls, you should have bowls that could last even as beautiful family heirlooms. If you’d like to buy wooden bowls or are interested in a custom design, you can give us a call.
